The main structure was built in 1898as st johns episcopal church. A cornerstone was included in the southeast cover of the building which contains a lead box in which was placed a bible, prayer book, a hymnal, a list of church memebers and a copy of the clinton herald. Cornerstones typically contain other items as well such as at least one gold oin, so ours, no doubt holds secrets too. Many imporobements were made ofver the years inclding addint eh hancrafted fresco in 1910 at the back of the main building. The congresation soon outgrew its walls and in 1948 parish hall was added to the east. In 2004 the building was purchased by bethel african methodist episcopal (AME) church. EME had started its clinton branch just after the civil war at another location with former slave sisster melissa elizabeth glanton selling books door to door to raise funds. Several years after bethel AME left the building the appropriately names Gfreat Revivalist brewery gabe the building new life. The orinal interior brick walls are now exposed as is the original hardwoof floor. There are many amentities in the remodeled building which give nad to original and perion peieces for example the 6’ cross adorning the roof is a gentle reminder of this beautiful buildings past.
